Cocktail Hour-Silk Road

This Cocktail is a pure sensory treasure!  The spices in this cocktail are all strong in their individual elements, but together, the blend into a smooth palatable dream.  Take the ginger...that is a strong flavor, then blend with the fabulous licorice flavor in the Star Anise...mix that lovliness with the grapefruit and wow!  This makes the base of this classy and beautiful cocktail that will have your guest talking for ages about what a spectacular host or hostess you are!  Here you go:

Silk Road: (serves 2)

Ingredients:

• Gin-2 oz
• Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice-4 oz (about one whole grapefruit)
• Fresh squeezed lime juiice-1/2 oz
• Ginger infused simple syrup-1/2-1 oz
• Fruit bitters- 2 shakes
• Champagne-to top off
• 2 Star Anise

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice excluding the champagne.  Shake until your hands almost freeze off!  (or be intelligent and use a towel) pour into coup champgane glass and top off with champagne.  Garnish with grapefruit pulp and one star anise!
