The Woman Behind the Machine

The Woman Behind the Machine

Much like The Wizard of Oz, there is in fact a man behind the curtain. Or in this case, a woman behind the machine. And like Dorothy’s, it has been a long journey to reach this point in my life – the creation of Southern Stitched Designs.
A native Texan, I spent most of my adult life in Houston raising three children and four stepchildren. When the kids were older, I returned to school myself to become a Registered Nurse, working in Labor and Delivery for six years. I loved every second of it. Words can’t describe the beauty of watching a woman work so hard to bring a new life into this world and getting to be a part of that was an honor. Then, in 2017, I sustained a nerve injury to my left foot during surgery that left me unable to continue working in the nursing profession. This unexpected life twist has become a blessing of sorts – I am now able to devote my time to my other passion – embroidery and creating the perfect gifts that bespeak all things Southern hospitality.
I currently reside in the beautiful hill county town of Comfort, TX, with my husband, two cats, and seven dogs. I’m still working on adding a miniature cow but, well, husbands. Comfort is the perfect country setting for Southern Stitched Designs and it’s my goal to one day own a bed and breakfast here with a gift shop to showcase my creations. In the meantime, I love throwing parties and decorating for them, making my home’s guest rooms quaint and inviting, spoiling my three grandkids, and making the perfect gift for each and every occasion.  Oh, and dogs…did I mention I adore my SEVEN dogs??
With a passion for Southern etiquette and a love of all things monogrammed, Southern Stitched Designs is the go-to site for southern charm (and maybe a touch of sass) in home décor and gifts for everyone and every occasion in your life.  Welcome - I’m glad you’re here!
